George Kaufman - July 20, 1950 - March 8, 2009

He was my brother, my friend, my band-mate, my business partner. George was a consummate musician and a loving husband and father. There is a huge void in my soul.

George, I and the rest of The Nails love you very much. I'll see you in heaven.

No George, you are not "gone forever" but reborn every day in everyone who has ever known you.
Reborn in every thought of you.
Reborn in every musical note you've ever recorded.
Reborn in every person who has heard, been moved, been changed by the music of The Nails.
Reborn in the students you taught and inspired to become musicians.
Reborn in your beautiful children and wife.
Reborn at this very moment in my heart.

Cause of death: George was recovering nicely from successful surgery for 1 of 2 aortic tears (aneurism). During his recovery in the hospital, he suffered a heart attack around 4:30 pm March 8, 2009. His condition stabilized but just for a short while. He died later that evening.
